SUMMARY:Carried With Us: Coffin Decorating Workshop
DESCRIPTION:[vc_column_text css_animation=”none”] \nCarried With Us: A Coffin Decorating Workshop for all ages and an opportunity to talk about dying\, death and grief with Let’s Discuss Death. \nA workshop exploring grief\, mortality\, and what we leave behind. \nFree\, drop in. \nWhat do we do with the things we can’t stop thinking about – a favourite mug\, a garden we walked in together\, a moment we’d give anything to return to? \nIn this hands-on workshop\, artist Summer Oxley invites you to turn memory into something you can hold.\nYou’ll create an embossed metal design\, capturing an object\, a place\, or a moment that connects you to someone you’ve lost. These small\, luminous pieces will then be used to decorate the exterior of a coffin to form part of the Festival of the Dead. \nNo artistic experience needed. All materials provided. All ages and abilities welcome. \nAlongside Summer\, Tilly Munro will have a Let’s Discuss Death stall where you can browse some great books and ask any questions you might have about dying\, death and grief. Or if you want to talk\, she will listen. \nArtist bio\nSummer Oxley is a London-based artist and illustrator whose work explores storytelling\, nostalgia\, memory and finding small joys in difficult times. After experiencing two significant bereavements\, Summer returned to study – completing a Masters in Illustration at University of the Arts London – and began creating workshops that bring people together around loss\, using making as a way into conversation\, connection and understanding. \n@summeroxley \nTilly Munro is co-founder of Let’s Discuss Death CIC\, a community interest company working to improve death and grief literacy in east London. A trained end-of-life doula\, she brings over a decade of experience in death and bereavement – including bereavement support with Cruse and work as a funeral director. Let’s Discuss Death is currently developing a partnership with local libraries and the NHS to make end-of-life conversations more accessible to communities who rarely receive that support. \n@lets.Discuss.Death \nSupported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England \nThis event is part of our Festival of the Dead Programme – click here to see what else is on! \n🎟️ Book Now

SUMMARY:Festival of the Dead - Who is Death? - Ilford
DESCRIPTION:[vc_column_text css_animation=”none”] \nJoin artist Tess Tallula for a gentle and creative drop-in craft activity inspired by her children’s book This is Death. Children can make their own clay figures – unique interpretations of Death as a kind and comforting character who helps guide us to whatever comes next. \nDrop-in\, free activity – but space may limited at times \nTess Tallula is an artist and author of two children’s books. Her work is multilayered and mixed media\, blending textiles and craft techniques with traditional two and three dimensional art forms. In both her art practice and her storybooks\, she navigates themes of memory\, emotion\, and interconnectedness\, inviting viewers on their own introspective journeys. Saccharine memento mori\, smiling skulls\, flowers and ghostly spirits act as a way to process grief and celebrate the circularity of life and our place in the universe. These seemingly otherworldly or fantastical scenes are intensely familiar recreations of something innate and unspoken. \nWww.Tesstallulaart.Com \nSupported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England \nThis event is part of our Festival of the Dead Programme – click here to see what else is on! \n🎟️ Book Now
