Join Itzatna Arts for a colourful celebration of Mexico’s Day of the Dead!
In this family-friendly workshop, you’ll get hands on with clay, learn about the rich history of the árbol de vida or Tree of Life and more! We will be creating a communal Tree of Life which will be displayed at the library, with the opportunity to take some of your creations home.
Create a charm for the Community árbol de vida, or tree of life, to honour loved ones and celebrate memories with them.
Come celebrate Day of the Dead and get creative with us!
Workshop designed by Michelle Amezcua.
Drop-In, free activity – but space may be limited at times
Craft workshops can be messy, so it’s best to wear or bring some old clothes.
ITZATNA is a dynamic arts organisation based between the Midlands and London, dedicated to cultivating cross-cultural collaborations with diaspora creatives, researchers and communities from México, Latin America, and the UK.
ITZATNA creates groundbreaking cultural projects by embracing ecological, decolonial, and multigenerational perspectives. Drawing inspiration from diverse Latin American traditions, we reimagine them for our contemporary world. Through a fusion of art forms, we craft unique and impactful experiences for all ages, co-created with local communities.
ITZATNA have presented projects at Birmingham Hippodrome, Coffin Works, The Mexican Embassy in London, Emergency Festival Manchester, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Core Theatre Solihull, Friction Arts, Coventry Arts Space, Twycross Zoo, The GAP Arts, among others. ITZATNA has been funded by Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund, The Mexican Embassy in the UK, British Library, Solihull Council, Reimagine Redditch, and Redbridge Libraries.
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
