Teach a Robot to Walk with AI, 12-14 yrs

August 27 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Can a robot learn to move by itself? In this hands-on workshop, you will build a simple wheeled robot with a movable foot, then teach it how to travel forwards using artificial intelligence.

At first, the robot’s movements will be random and not very successful. Through trial and error, feedback and repeated attempts, it will begin to recognise which movements work best and gradually improve. This workshop is subject to funding. See ‘Attendee instructions’ section on this booking.

Along the way, you will explore how a form of AI called reinforcement learning works and see the learning process happen in a real, physical robot – not just on a screen. This workshop goes beyond simply using AI. It will help you understand how machines learn, why they sometimes make mistakes and how small improvements can lead to better results.

No previous experience of AI, coding or robotics is needed. Everything will be explained step by step, with extra challenges available for anyone who already has some experience.

If the session is fully booked, please join the waiting list. This helps us see the level of interest and plan future sessions.
