African Drumming Celebration

Sessions
11:15 – 12:00: Short performances by Mouhamadou Sarr with pupils from Redbridge Music Service
13:00 – 14:00 & 14:00 – 15:00 : Come and try Djembe: Drop in and try African drumming for yourself under the expert guidance of Mouhamadou Sarr. No experience necessary – just turn up and have fun! (Instruments provided.)[vc_column_text css_animation=”none”]Mouhamadou Sarr
African Drumming performer and educator

Based in London, but originally from Dakar, Senegal, Mamadou Sarr is an exceptionally talented performer and recording artist, specialising in Djembe, Djun Djun, Sabar and Calabash percussion traditions. He has toured with him extensively around the world and is regularly featured by Grammy Award winning British band ‘Mumford and Sons’.

Mamadou is a passionate educator, teacher and workshop facilitator. Mamadou’s education experience spans primary, secondary and special school settings across the London boroughs and beyond, to tertiary level
Settings.

Mamadou remains deeply connected to his home country and regularly returns to Senegal to perform, mentor, share work and participate in projects. In 2013 Mamadou had the enormous honour of being invited by the presidential delegation to perform for Barack and Michelle Obama when
they made their inaugural visit to Senegal
