Accessible Craft Workshop, Touch Tour and Audio Described Parade by Vocaleyes – Ilford

October 30 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

[vc_column_text css_animation=”none”]

Join us for a Craft Workshop, Touch Tour and live Audio-Described Parade, led by Itzatna Arts and VocalEyes. This experience is designed for blind and visually impaired festival-goers, as well as anyone who would benefit from additional sensory access.

The annual illuminated Redbridge Festival of the Dead parade is inspired by Mexico’s El Día de Muertos and features giant puppets created by The Lantern Company. Enjoy live music from UDM Samba and Las Adelitas Mariachi Band, alongside Day of the Dead stilt walkers and This is Mexico! dancers. A Braille character guide will be available.

VocalEyes Programme:

3.30pm – 4.15pm: Tree of Life Clay Workshop with ITZATNA Arts. An inclusive hands-on clay workshop, facilitated by an artist who has experience with blind and neurodivergent participants. (indoors)

4.30pm – 5pm: Touch Tour exploring key elements of the parade (indoors)

5pm – 6pm: Live Audio Description of the parade by VocalEyes (outdoors) – 1 ticket=1 headset

Please note:

In-ear earphones will be provided for the audio description.
The parade takes place outdoors.
All ages are welcome, although the experience is recommended for ages 10+.

We look forward to welcoming you to this vibrant and inclusive celebration

What is a Touch Tour? Touch Tours are for blind, visually impaired and SEN audiences to become familiar with the performance area, set, props and sounds used in the show. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have that would help when watching the show.

The Touch Tour will take place from 4.30pm-5pm at Redbridge Central Library.

What is Audio Description?
Audio description (AD) is a verbal commentary that explains what is happening in theatre or TV, focusing on visual elements such as text on screen, characters’ appearances, facial expressions, movements, or visual jokes. (VocalEyes)

Whilst the Touch Tour may take place indoors, the parade is outdoors so please dress warmly!
